Phil Schappert has a PhD in biology and has been associated with high-profile institutions in Canada & the US, however, as much as he loves the intellectual pursuit of science, he has also always loved music. When he wrote this book (and his previous book, A World for Butterflies) his vocation was science and his avocation was music, but he has chosen to reverse the two and has now moved to Nova Scotia to pursue music full time.
